Peonies
This is a bonus shot: red peonie and white one, too. Aren't they beautiful. This is in a neighbor's garden. The grandbaby and I stopped on our trip to the garden and took a pictures. We got to see her feed the chickens and the goldfish.

Look at this; this is lovely, sort of off-white, almost yellow. Wonderful.

Peony
I think close-up photography of flowers is delicious. So sensual and the shapes are evocative of lacy fabric, folds of sheer viole. So beautiful and feminine.

Rogasa Rose
My sister said to me, I've seen this very special rose called the Ragosa Rose. And I said, oh, a nursery man suggested we plant those along the fenceline at our Indianola home. We made a fence of beach wood. It was twisted and gnarled, cute and the roses, nice and hearty, probably the fence is completely overgrown now. This one is growing at the entrance to the interurban trail.

Gerbera Daisy
I've never grown these daisies in my garden, but I've grown the white ones, the common ones. In the Glendon, they were scattered all about. I like how wild they look. They are fresh and wholesome. See http://myweddingplace.blogspot.com for fresh ideas for the new bride.

Brown & Yellow Bearded Iris
I love this old-fashioned flower, brown and yellow bearded iris. My mother used to grow a few flowers. Her favorite were petunias, but she also grew iris along the side of the house. The house may have come that way, for all I know. But the thrill of the iris is like no other, and the smell of violets--sheez louise.

Just Peachy
This bearded iris bloomed in Manito Gardens. I love the shades of pink, moving to tan and then while. Beautiful flower.

Purple & White Iris
This iris is growing at the base of the trees planted along the road down the street. I love the contrast.
Cactus Flower
This sweet purple flower grows on the cactus plant. I think this is an amazing thing, cactus that flower. I was hiking out at Ebby's Landing on Mother's Day and saw a prickly Pear Cactus growing on the hillside. This is the PNW. Weirdly beautiful.

Waterlily
We used to paddle out to the marshy area of Diamond Lake and glide through the lilies. It was marvelous and also a little frightening to be in the marsh. All the dragonflies and frogs and life--I guess life can be frightening.
Peonies
Such an old-fashioned flower. They are blooming here in the PNW right now. I think of them and then I think of my grandmother.

Poeny
Wow, coral color and the petals ruffled a bit. This is better than icing on cake. In fact, I can almost taste it.

Honeysuckle?
I like the wagon wheel shape this flower cluster takes on. I'm not sure what it is, anyone know?
Fresh Flowers
There's something about picking flowers and putting them in the kitchen, or by the bed. When I visit my sister, there is always a bouquet in the bedroom. So sweet.
Scarlet Ohara Peony
Giant red blossoms. This is a fabulous photo, the green against the red simply vibrates.

Pink Peony
This flower looks good enough to eat. Aren't they beautiful and so tender. I think of the peony as being an old--fashioned flower. My mother said they always have ants, and I must say the only ones I've grown had ants. Must have a lovely sweet honey. Technorati Profile
Red Hibiscus
Here in the Pacific Northwest, you can grow Hibiscus on your patio, but you have to move the plant inside in the winter. There are a variety of flower colors and some are as huge as salad plates. Gorgeous.
Magnolia
These are truely beautiful trees when in bloom. When I was young, I lived on Madelia and my boyfriend, whom I later married, lived on Magnolia. I'd never seen a Magnolia tree before and called it a Tulip Tree. He said, many people thought it was called that, but it's a Magnolia.
African Daisy
Gazania--African Daisy. I had a purple one blooming for a couple of years and then it died in a very cold winter. This shot makes a beautiful mandala.

Blue Rhody
A rhododendron from the Homestead Park Rhododendron Gardens. Looks more purple than blue, and I imagine this is beautiful to see. Some rhody bushes grow practically to the size of trees. In the woods, they are scrawny in comparison. All of them are beautiful in my eyes.
