Pink Poppies


I love how papery thin the poppy petal is. Here are pink poppies in the field. I grew the Georgia O'keeffe poppy in my yard in Kingston

Beautiful Flower


Well, I'm not sure if this is a daisy. Could be calendula. Or a sunflower. Any guesses?

Dahlia


The dahlias are still blooming down my Taylor Dock. I was surprised, thinking it's already November, flowers should be taking a break. Most all the leaves are off the trees.

Fall Rose


Yes, we are having some frost now. It won't be long before it snows. It's is strange to have it so dark, early. I was sitting eating dinner last night around 6 and it was night outside. Freaked me out.

Primroses


I love primroses. Around here there are fall flowers one can plant, pansies and primroses. The primrose blooms early in the spring and somewhat late in the fall.

Here's a pretty variations, white with purple centers. Plant them around your front porch in in pots next to your door.

Here is the color I recall from my last garden. These are prolific flowers and so sweet in the fall, lasting into very cold weather.

Gardenias make lovely and fragrant house plants.

Spirae japonica


Spirae grows wild in the Pacific Northwest. When I was a child I recall the smell of the spirae bushes blooming in the spring.

Aren't these sweet? They are one of my favorite flowers. When I was young my aunt used to press flowers and make them into framed pictures. Now my sister makes them into cards.

Red Chrysanthemum


Wow, I love the color of this mum. Very dramatic. This would be a great accent color for a fall wedding.

This is a great color, cadmium yellow. We grew burgundy mums. I remember blue asters, too.

When we were kids we put carnations in food coloring and as they drank the water they'd turn the color we added.
